Recursive Dominion
Power reproduces itself when participation is accepted only in forms the system already controls.
Modern civic system study
An authored visual study preserved in full
A study of power that reproduces itself through dependency: the loop promises continuity while the downward points mark consequence and narrowing choice.
Visual anatomy
- Interlocked lower loops
- Dependency is made to appear natural and permanent.
- High central axis
- Authority rises above the feedback it controls.
- Paired crescents
- A promise of illumination repeats on both sides of the same enclosure.
- Upper star
- The system crowns its own output as the authoritative source.
- Downward points
- Each recursive cycle produces concrete consequences below.
System mechanism
A recursive institution cites records it created, relies on metrics it selected, and treats the resulting outputs as evidence that its original design was correct. Dependency deepens because access, identity, reputation, and remedy all pass through the same loop.
Cognitive Liberty risk
The person loses practical room to disagree because every attempt to challenge the system generates more data for the system, which then interprets resistance as risk or noncompliance.
Architecture of Defiance response
Separate source from evaluation, split custody from adjudication, require independent review, publish feedback effects, and create multiple participatory routes that can alter the loop.
Participation reading
Participation must reach the feedback controller. Comments that do not alter metrics, thresholds, data retention, or remedy are decorative participation.
